Why Arsenal dont have to worry!

17 Dec

The draw for the Champions League has been done, and Arsenal have drawn Barcelona. Now i know that looks like an awful draw for Arsenal but is it really?

I ask that because when you really think about it, do you really think Arsenal were going to win the Champions League this season? And even if you do, they were going to have to play someone of thee top teams in Europe sometime, so why not play them now? If Arsenal are to lose this match, then is it a terrible thing? It just means that they get to concentrate on the rest of the season, while the other Premier League teams have to fight on 3 fronts, meaning there chances in the Premier League increase. If Arsenal do win, then they get a massive confidence boost and become one of the favourites to win the Champions League, and after losing to Barcelona last year then they are going to want to win this game more then any other game this season.

Another issue is injuries, last season Arsenal didnt have Vermaelen, Van Persie and Fabregas for the 2nd leg. They have also brought in Chamakh and Nasri is on form at the moment. The game is 10 weeks away and if all these players can get fit and get a bit of form, then Barcelona will have a doubt as to whether they can win. Arsenal have a big squad, so if injuries do occur they have replacements, where as if Barcelona have an injury they dont have a big squad to cover for these injuries.
Lets just imagine, say Lionel Messi gets injured, do you really think Arsenal will fear them and that the pundits will have Barcelona as nailed on winners of the match? I dont think so, dont get me wrong Barcelona will still be favourites but Arsenal will fancy there chances massively. As brilliant as some of their players are, they rely heavily on Messi whether its through goals or assists.

Another reason for no fear is Arsenal are the outsiders, so if they lose it was expected.

So just a reminder to those Arsenal fans, a lot can happen in 10 weeks!

arsenal players and fans very often have this “underdog” mentality; that you don’t see in fans of man u, real or barca. you’re “expected” to lose, but if you win, it’s a good surprise?! this sort of mentality would get you no where, as can be seen in the previous so many years of under-achievement. i don’t wanna hear a team of supposedly champions or supporters of champions saying things like this. arsenal is a supposed to be a massive club; start acting and winning that way!

Dont get me wrong i totally agree with you there, but im just trying to put on postive spin to all the negative posts i keep seeing of Arsenal fans. Arsenal for me can win 2/3 trophies this season, because if they win the Carling Cup then players start to know they can win trophies and it just builds up confidence and the Carling cup final is around the time or the 2nd legs, so the confidence boost could be massive for that 2nd leg

I bet Barcelona weren’t happy when they saw they’d drawn us!
